Konzertmusic for Drums, Metal and Electronics - Electronic music, Em 9 - my 29th album. The first of three works, alongside albums 30 and 31, created to celebrate my 40th birthday - my Birthday Triptych - flashing back to my Art years.
Recorded over three evenings at Isabel, as fundamentally Staged percussion Works - each for three enormous drums, with varying degrees of metal and Electronics. Each exploring a different musical area of this broad idea, each being part of an overarching series, that crosses the boundaries of my established Genres – that I call a ‘Crosscurrent’. Each piece is then in three movements.
Konzertmusic for Drums, Metal and Electronics – Rh 146
Album, no. 29 I styled as Konzertmusic, punning on the ‘K,’ I Designated it as Em, but listening to it I can see I was wrong in that – it is obviously an Electro acoustic piece – MSEP in my parlance. Things moved very fast in those days and it is too late to unpick it now.
They Confront you - Like giant, Abstract Expressionist Canvases.
An early reorganization of my music research interests had defined my music into dedicated sets of Albums. This way things of a kin got heard together - as one type of album or another - by Genre - or Tranche as I styled them. In this Case Electronic music, Em. - Music taking a long processing detour from an original acoustic source. By convention Em.
Albums number 28 to 58 form my second big publishing project or Group - the 'New Horizon' - built on the foundational 'Blue Cherry' Group - where I had introduced my 5 areas of research interest, as Blocks of dedicated albums. Now in a new air I felt free to just reel them of as they came. Exploring like a man with a Time machine - where these five Genres, or Tranches, might lead me.
There are 12 Em albums in the New Horizon Group, Em 9 to 20. Em 9 is the Konzertmusic for DME; Em 10 is Dodecal together first and second parts of my Birthday Triptych. Em 11 is ‘Nonosphere’ – “A penetrating Cloud of unbearable sharps, a rush of glass hails into one helplessly caught” – after a fragment from Nono. Here the Nono Crosscurrant, crosses into Em. Em 12,13 and 14 – ‘Movement about a Point’ – ‘Isospin’ and ‘Directions’ are the three parts of my ‘Circulation Triptych.’ Em 15 ‘Earthfire’ -Contains the twin works of ‘The Philosophical Elements', being, 'The Fluid Elements - Rh 197 ' [Air and Water] and ‘Earthfire - Rh 198’ [Earth and Fire]. Em 16 ‘Moment of a Butterfly’ - was a momentous stylistic and ‘Philosophical’ step forward - also marking the final change from my old Drum Studio, to the new 'Isabel Studio' and a step change in possibility. Em 17 ‘Ritual – Rh 208’ is music sourced from an actual Witches Coven, friends of mine flew in for the event. I couple this with ‘Solitaire - Rh 209,’ music ‘microtuning’ from a slowly filling vessel. Em 18 ‘Change Circle’ is a double album containing 3 pieces - projections turning slowly in a haze of microchanges – my preoccupation at the time. Em 19 and 20 are Fibonacci and Theremi. Fibonacci is a cascade of shredded speech montage bringing the tones and tails of speech into a conceptual music. Em 20 is a performed work for Theremin.
The DCM album numbers list volumes in a [for the most part]
chronological edition - the ‘DCM Broadhurst Edition’ - Prepared for the British Library in 2019. The volumes or albums themselves were actually released as and when it was possible. The Edition though, was planed from the start to stand on the 'foundation Stone' of the Blue Cherry group.
The Rh catalogue, numbers my individual works in order of Completion.

Though Dreyblatt’s compositional method is largely complex, his songs have the hard-hitting simplicity of rock 'n’ roll. Bandcamp Album of the Day Aug 15, 2023
